Getting things done

How do I start?

Tap Record and allow microphone access. Recording works before model setup. To turn audio into text, tap Enable transcription and allow about 650 MB for the model plus extra preparation and recording space.

Does it work offline?

Yes, after the required resources are installed. Speech recognition uses the local Parakeet model. Translation uses Apple language resources, which may need optional setup. Model and language downloads require internet; your recordings are not sent for processing.

Which languages can I use?

Speech recognition and the interface support 25 languages, including Ukrainian and English. Open Speech languages in the app for the full list. Translation has a separate language list queried from your operating system; not every speech language has translation support.

How do I translate a recording?

On iOS 18 or macOS 15 and later, choose From and To. If the app offers Set up translation, install the requested Apple resources. When the pair is Ready offline, enable Live translation before recording or translate a saved transcript.

Why can live words change?

Live captions and translations are provisional. Short audio windows provide limited context. Stopping the recording runs a final transcription of the complete file. Always review important text.

How do I rename, edit or delete?

Tap a recording title or its rename control to rename it. Expand the recording to edit, copy or share text. Use Select to choose several recordings or Select All, then confirm deletion. This removes the app copy of audio and its saved text; imported source files remain unchanged.

Why does text pause when I lock my iPhone?

Live text processing pauses while the app is inactive. Audio can continue recording with permission. Keep the app open for model setup and final transcription. An audio interruption may stop recording and leave the saved audio available for retry.

Can I record another app?

On iPhone, import a permitted audio/video file or screen recording from Files. iOS may block call or protected-media audio. The separate native Mac app has a Mac audio source; support depends on the released platform and system permission.

What if setup fails?

Check the connection and available storage, keep the app open, and retry. Recordings can be kept for transcription later.

Can I play audio or identify speakers?

Audio playback and speaker labels are not included in version 1.0. The app focuses on recording, text transcription, editing and translation.
