Voice Transcript — Privacy Policy

Voice Transcript is developed by Illia Gryniuk. This policy describes the app's handling of your recordings, transcripts, translations and preferences.
Your audio and text stay on your device
Recording, speech recognition and text translation run locally. The app does not send your audio, transcripts or translated text to the developer or to a transcription/translation server. It does not use your content to train a model. There is no app account, advertising SDK or app-installed analytics service.
Local storage and deletion
Recordings, titles, transcripts and saved translations are kept in the app's local storage until you delete them. You can delete one recording, select several, or select all and confirm deletion. This removes the selected app-owned audio and its saved text. Editing a transcript does not change the original audio. Imported files are copied; deleting the app's copy does not delete your original file.
The app excludes its managed recordings, transcripts and downloaded speech model from automatic device backups. There is no app-operated cloud sync. Keep copies of text you need before deleting recordings or removing the app. Removing the app on iOS removes its app-owned data; offloading the app can retain data under Apple's storage rules. On Mac, deleting the application alone may leave its local container. Shared Apple translation resources are managed by the operating system.
Microphone and import permissions
The microphone is used only when you start a recording. You can change microphone permission in system settings. A file picker gives the app access to the audio or video files you select. The native Mac app can capture system audio after you select Mac audio, start recording and grant the system permission. The iPhone app does not capture audio from other apps directly.
Model and language downloads
The optional Enable transcription action downloads an approximately 650 MB speech model from Hugging Face and its delivery providers. These providers receive network information needed for delivery, including your IP address, the requested model files and ordinary request/device metadata; they may retain service and security logs under their own policies. No recording or transcript is included in these download requests. Hugging Face's policy is at huggingface.co/privacy.
Apple Translation may request optional language-resource downloads through Apple's system interface. Apple's services are governed by apple.com/legal/privacy. After required resources are installed, transcription and translation work on the device without an inference server. The operating system may remove language resources and require setup again.
Hugging Face also documents server-side download statistics and request logs containing approximate country/region, an IP-derived network identifier, requested repository, request time/status/method and user-agent information. These support delivery, security, diagnostics and download analytics. The app does not read GPS location or the advertising identifier. The App Store privacy label includes this provider metadata; it does not mean recordings or transcripts are uploaded. Hugging Face download analytics documentation.
Sharing and external links
Copy and Share act only when you choose them. Text copied to the system clipboard or sent to another app is then handled by your operating system and chosen destination, including any clipboard-sync or cloud features you enable. Opening a support, policy or license link contacts that website, whose hosting provider may keep ordinary web access logs. We do not embed advertising or analytics trackers in the app.
Preferences and diagnostics
Your interface and translation-language preferences are saved locally. The app may write operational diagnostics to the device's system log. It does not operate a remote crash-reporting service. Apple may process and share store or diagnostic information according to your Apple privacy and diagnostic settings.
Support and your choices
Use the App Support link on Voice Transcript's App Store page to contact the developer or ask a privacy question. If you contact support, the address and information you voluntarily send are used to respond and handle your request. Do not include private recordings or transcripts unless you intend to share them. The developer cannot retrieve or remotely delete recordings held only on your device; use the app's deletion controls.
Changes
If the app's data practices change, this policy and the App Store privacy information will be updated. The date above identifies this version.
This website and support
This support website is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub logs visitors' IP addresses for security. These pages contain no analytics scripts, embedded media or third-party assets. See the GitHub Privacy Statement.
